Webinar materials: sustainable stormwater management
The webinar "Climate change adaptation through smart stormwater management" was organized on 28 April 2020 by the UBC Sustainable Cities Commission. It included a presentation on modern sustainable stormwater management by Matthias Barjenbruch from Technical University Berlin, as well as examples from the cities around the Baltic Sea: Copenhagen (Jes Clauson-Kaas, HOFOR A/S), Helsinki (Kajsa Rosqvist, City of Helsinki) and Gdansk (Magdalena Gajewska, Gdansk University of Technology). More than 60 participants took part in the live webinar.
All speakers highlighted current trends in the extreme weather events in their cities and provided a wide range of approaches and solutions for launching smart stormwater management, from formulating a strategy through single efficient solutions and to comprehensive systems. Throuhgout the platform cooperation, BSR WATER is contributing to regional policy on nutrient recycling, hazardous substances and stormwater management in the Baltic Sea Region. The recommendations are based on the experiences and commonly used good practices tested in the cities around the Baltic Sea.
